The Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF) has officially launched the 2026/27 Research Development Fellowship Programme.

This highly competitive fellowship is designed to support emerging African researchers through a structured research placement and professional development support.

What the Fellowship Offers:

• A 3–9 month placement at a leading research institution in the UK, Europe, or Africa

• Additional support at the fellow’s home institution before and after the placement

• Funding of up to £47,000

The programme aims to strengthen research skills, enhance leadership capacity, and support long-term career development for African researchers.
