General Requirements for Academic Positions

Professor (CONMESS 7)

• MBBS with PhD or Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (or equivalent)
• Minimum 12 years teaching, research, and administrative experience
• At least 18 peer-reviewed publications

Associate Professor (CONMESS 6)

• MBBS with PhD or Fellowship
• Minimum 9 years relevant experience
• At least 12 publications

Senior Lecturer (CONMESS 5)

• MBBS with PhD or Fellowship
• Minimum 6 years experience
• At least 6 publications

Lecturer I (CONMESS 4)

• MBBS plus MSc or Fellowship
• Minimum 3 years experience

Lecturer II (CONMESS 3)

• MBBS degree
• Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
• NYSC certificate or exemption

Non-Academic Positions

1. Laboratory Technologist (Medical Laboratory)
2. Laboratory Technologist (Science Laboratory)

Requirements

• HND, BSc, or B.Tech in Science Laboratory Technology
• NYSC certificate or exemption

• Appointment to Professor or Associate Professor ranks is subject to external assessment of publications.
• Candidates without prior university teaching experience cannot be appointed directly as Professor or Associate Professor.
• All applicants must have full MDCN registration and a current practicing license.
