AREN Local Network Leads (LNLs) Training Programme 2026 – Applications Now Open

The African Reproducibility Network (AREN) has announced that applications are now open for the second iteration of its highly successful Local Network Leads (LNLs) Training Programme.

This well-structured programme is designed to train grassroots researchers and research professionals based in African universities and research institutions to become Open Science (OS) leaders. Selected participants will establish and lead a local Open Science network (community of practice) within their institutions.

The 2024 cohort achieved remarkable impact, leading to the establishment of local networks across 28 institutions in 15 African countries. The programme’s success gained international recognition, with keynote presentations at major conferences including the Research Libraries UK (RLUK) Conference in Liverpool, the Metascience Conference in London, and the FORM Forum in Dubai.

AREN Local Network Leads have also engaged with leading global organisations such as Public Library of Science (PLOS), Springer Nature, and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Researchers and research professionals across Africa are encouraged to apply and share this opportunity widely within their networks.
