Eighth Edition of ABUMDAF Mentor’s Hour – A Rewarding Session with Dr. Umar Farouq Ibrahim (OON)

Assalamu Alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Alhamdulillah! The Eighth Edition of the ABUMDAF Mentor’s Hour was successfully held on Sunday, 7th October 2025, with over 80 participants in attendance.

The session featured Dr. Umar Farouq Ibrahim (OON), a distinguished Consultant Ophthalmologist at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, who delivered an inspiring talk on “Career in Ophthalmology: Prospects and Challenges.”

The event was anchored by Dr. Fatima Ibrahim and opened with prayers led by Dr. Hamza Adamu, followed by opening remarks from Prof. G.D. Waziri, representing the BoT Chairman.

During the talk, Dr. Umar shared his journey into medicine, pathways to specialization in ophthalmology, and vital tips for aspiring ophthalmologists — emphasizing the importance of stereoacuity and choosing subspecialties based on one’s future area of practice.

The interactive session ended with engaging questions, valuable insights, and a closing prayer by Zainab Musa Mustapha.
