The British Academy International Fellowships 2026 programme is now accepting applications from outstanding early-career researchers who wish to undertake high-quality research in the United Kingdom. This prestigious fellowship, jointly run by the British Academy and the Royal Society, supports researchers to make the first significant step toward an independent research career through a two-year placement at a UK research institution.

The programme aims to attract and retain emerging global research talent, foster international research collaborations, and support the development of innovative, original research projects. Funding: The award is offered at 80% of full economic cost (FEC); additional funding is available for research expenses and relocation costs.

Eligibility Highlights:

Must hold a PhD (or be in the final stages, with viva completed by the awards committee meeting date).
Have no more than five years of full-time postdoctoral experience (excluding career breaks).
Work outside the UK and not hold UK citizenship.
Must have a research proposal agreed with a UK host researcher.
Demonstrate competence in written and oral English.
