The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) has opened applications for its Technical Fellowships 2026, a global programme supporting cancer professionals through short-term international learning visits.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this fellowship enables participants to gain practical skills, knowledge exchange, and hands-on experience through placements lasting 2 weeks to 2 months at host institutions worldwide.

Funding

The fellowship provides:

  • Economy return flight
  • Living allowance (based on host country)

Example (1-month stay):

  • ~$1,440 (low/middle-income countries)
  • ~$3,700 (high-income countries)

Who Can Apply

  • Public health professionals
  • Other cancer-related specialists

Priority is given to applicants from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Hold at least a Master’s degree (or MD / RN with certification)
  • Have minimum 5 years’ experience in the cancer field
  • Be employed at a relevant institution (hospital, university, registry, etc.)
  • Return to their home institution after the fellowship

Not eligible:

  • Students (undergraduate, Master’s, PhD)
  • Projects for conferences, workshops, or basic training

Focus Areas

The 2026 call emphasizes public health and cancer control, including:

  • Cancer prevention & early detection
  • Risk factors (behavioral, environmental)
  • Epidemiology & cancer registries
  • Diagnosis & treatment (e.g., oncology, surgery observerships)
  • Patient support & palliative care
  • Cancer economics
  • National cancer control planning

Special focus for 2026:

  • Cervical cancer & HPV vaccination access

  • Required documents include:
    • Host institution invitation letter
    • Supervisor attestation forms (home & host)

Applications are reviewed through a confidential peer-review process, with results released within 90 days after the deadline.
