2026-2027 Harvard LEAD Fellowship for Promoting Women in Global Health

The Harvard Global Health Institute, in partnership with the Department of Global Health & Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, has opened applications for the 2026–2027 LEAD Fellowship — a fully funded, one-year leadership development program created to support emerging women leaders in global health from low- and middle-income countries.

Program Highlights:

  • 12-month program including virtual learning and a 6-week in-residence session at Harvard in April 2027

  • Individual executive leadership coaching

  • Mentorship from Harvard faculty tailored to professional goals

  • Leadership masterclasses, public speaking opportunities, and executive education programs

  • Financial support covering visa, housing, travel, and stipend for the residency period

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field

  • At least 10 years of full-time professional experience in global health

  • Commitment to take a leave of absence during the 6-week in-residence period

  • Ability to obtain a J-1 visa

  • Must not have completed a full-time fellowship of four months or more in the past two years

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and potential

Application Materials:

  • CV or résumé

  • Letter of Intent (max 1.5 pages) describing your development journey and how the fellowship will support your goals

  • Four short essays on career development, proposed project, mentorship plan, and impact strategy

  • Letter of Institutional Commitment from current employer or home institution

  • Letter of Mentor Commitment

  • Two reference letters (one from current or recent workplace)

Important Dates:

  • Application Deadline: November 30, 2025

  • Fellowship Duration: September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027

  • In-Residence Period: April 2027 (approximately six weeks)
