THE LAST MINUTE OF A DYING MUSLIM: KALIMATUSSHAHADA OR MORE CHEST COMPRESSIONS?

THE LAST MINUTE OF A DYING MUSLIM: KALIMATUSSHAHADA OR MORE CHEST COMPRESSIONS?

Round table discussion

About This Session
When a Muslim is in the final moments of life, what should take priority? Should we encourage the recitation of the Kalimatus Shahada? Should we continue chest compressions and aggressive resuscitation? When is treatment beneficial, and when does it become futile? What guidance do Islam, ethics, and modern medicine offer? This unique conversation will bring together experts in medicine, Islamic scholarship, and ethics to explore end-of-life care from multiple perspectives. The discussion will address the roles of physicians, caregivers, family members, and religious leaders in making difficult decisions during a patient's final moments.
